January 13, 2014

Dear praying friends,
Thank you so much for your prayers for our family. As many of you know, Ron’s mom Bobbie Borman, suddenly passed away on December 30th. There will be a memorial service for her on Saturday January 18th in Michigan. Ron and I were helped by several individuals so we could purchase airplane tickets to attend. Pray for our travels Wednesday January 15th through January 24th. She was such a special lady who loved God, her family, and the Cofan people and we will really miss her. We look forward to being reunited again someday.
Ruben and Mayra’s wedding in December |
Cofan village visits: We are so thankful for the success of the Cofan Christmas parties this year. Also, we attended Ruben and Mayra’s wedding and despite a few hitches at the last moment, went very well and was a testimony for the Lord! Our family enjoyed several days in the house our older kids grew up in and they enjoyed seeing many of the Cofan children (now adults) they grew up with. For January, we had to postpone village visits for the month because of needing to travel to the States. We don’t have dates for February yet, but we are trusting the Lord to direct in those plans.
Pray for Marcelo as he continues his studies at IBME. Classes have resumed after the Christmas break.
Special project opportunity for 2014 – Please continue to pray for the “Jesus” film project in Cofan. We have been in contact with the technicians in Peru about the project we plan to start the recording on February 8th! Pray for the editing that will need to be done to the Cofan transcript that Ron will need to immediately start with Ramon, Aurelio and Wilson when we return from the States the end of the month.
Other Ministry Opportunities: We have had a great time with the work team from eastern Washington! They helped paint and fix up things here on the property; helped with three kids and teen clubs; visited an orphanage; and had a trip to Mindo to enjoy some of the sights here in Ecuador. We were blessed with special times of singing and sharing each evening, hugs and words of encouragement, service and enthusiasm. Franklin and Gina Ridgeway, who headed up the team, stayed on with some of their family and we have enjoyed some extra days of visiting and sunshine and surf down on one of the beaches of Ecuador. Pray for their family as they return to the States late tonight and tomorrow.
Washington Work-team Dec. 26th – Jan. 4th |
Homeschooling Activities: We had a great time at our Homeschool Family Christmas Party this past December. We hosted a combined event with the Washington work team and our homeschooled teens and had a great time singing together, games and interaction. Our next Teen Night event is scheduled for later in the month.
Family: Ethan has started substitute teaching at the Alliance Academy International here in Quito, Ecuador. Pray for him as he interacts with the students and looks to what God has for him in the future.
We enjoyed Sarah’s 3 ½ week visit during the holidays and she is back in Dubuque, IA at Emmaus Bible College continuing with her studies.
Lydia continues with her work here in Ecuador with Compassion International and will be starting up with some students for English lessons this month.
Julia is beginning her last semester as a homeschooler! Pray for her as she looks to what God has for her future.
In Christ,
Ron and Esther Borman and family
Julia is graduating this May 2014 |
